Europe United is a pan-European political party established by citizens who believe in a stronger and more accountable European Union. Europe United believes the EU is the best forum to deal with the challenges of globalisation. Europe United is in favour of greater European integration, but at the same time Europe United remains critical of the way the European Union currently works and believes that democratic reform of the EU is necessary.
What
Europe United's central aim is to campaign for institutional reform of the EU. We envisage a Union by the people and for the people where decisions are made not only close to the citizen but involving the citizen. We want to see a more democratically accountable decision-making process in the Commission, a more transparent Council and a stronger, more representative and effective European Parliament. To this end, Europe United plans to run for European elections on a common pan-European political platform. We will field our common candidates across the EU, running campaigns on European issues that affect European citizens. We will compete for election as a single entity, rather than a collection of national parties.
How
Europe United will promote its goal of institutional reform through a series of campaigns, starting this autumn. We will discuss and debate with citizens across the EU, and we will take your proposals to decision makers. We will look for common ground with other groups, movements and civil society as a whole, in an effort to create a pan-European movement of citizens for the EU we deserve. We will also run a political campaign ahead of European elections, promoting an honest and educated debate on the EU and the EU policies that affect the everyday lives and future of EU citizens. We will represent your interests in the only democratically-elected institution of the EU, the European Parliament, and through its structures we will utilise the EU to safeguard and improve the wellbeing of the people of Europe.
