On the 7th of August, Europe United members in the UK will meet in London to discuss activities in the UK and prepare the registration of the party in the UK. the meeting will also provide an opportunity to meet and get to know other members and build solidarity.

Europe United was represented at the EU's Conference on Citizens' rights last week by Board member Nico Segers. The conference focused on abolishing remaining hurdles Citizens encounter when making use of their rights as EU citizens and proposed solutions like trusted European documents to overcome such hurdles (especially concerning free movement).

On the weekend 7th-9th of May, European Citizens' Initiative experts and stakeholders and representants of EU institutions met in Salzburg for a conference on support infrastructure for the European Citizens' Initiatives, organised by the Austrian Institute for European Law and Policy.

Europe United's Salzburg Convention ended successfully after three days of decisive debates and votes. The members made the final votes on the new political program which was developed over the course of the last year and worked on upcoming campaigns.

Europe United sends condolences to the Polish people [EN]

Europe United's President Bengt Beier today sent condolences to the Polish people after the tragic plane crash near Smolensk in which 96 people, amongst them the Polish President, died. Bengt Beier this morning stated, "In those hours, our thoughts are with the families of the victims. The fact that this terrible accident happened when the passengers where on the way to commemorate the Katyn massacre only worsenes the tragedy."

Commission proposal for the European Citizens Initiative lacks clarity [EN]

The proposal on the European Citizens Initiative proposed on 31 March by the European Commission falls short of Europe Uniteds expectations.
While Europe United welcomes the proposals provision for the on-line gathering of signatures it believes the proposed law contains too many hurdles for most prospective citizens initiatives, says Bengt Beier, Europe Uniteds President.
